Our Classroom
by Hannah, Emiley, Travis, Madelyn, Dominic, and Chrisana
Our third grade classroom is a working place. We have the United States flag. In the morning we put our bags in our cubbies because if we don’t people can trip. We have mail boxes that we get our homework in everyday, except on Fridays because it is a weekend. Then after we do our work we read. We have a big classroom. After we read we have snack. We have to eat it at our seats because we don’t want to make a mess. We clean our classroom by picking up the paper and recycling it. We have a clock above the door. For homework we have math facts. They are like flash cards but you say the answer and the answer is on the back. We have a long shelf of books on one side of the wall. We have math every day. We have 4 and 6 groups of desks. Our teacher has a big table. When we work we listen to brain music to help us focus. We have a sink that we wash our hands in before lunch. We have bookbuddies every week. We love our classroom!
Our School
by Cody, Gabe, Derek, Charlie, and Nathan
Manchester Elementary school has about 200 students and six grades. There are two Kindergartens, two first grades, one second grade, two third grades, two fourth grades, and two fifth grades. We have a big gym in our school and we eat in it. We have an art room, a french room and a computer lab. In computer lab, we use games as a fun way to learn to type. We do Test Type, Type to Learn Four and Dance Mat Typing. The Science Lab is where we make inventions. We have a school nurse that helps us in bad situations like if we get hurt. In the library there is a computer that helps us find books. We have a playground. Its name is Castle Town. We have a long summer vacation from the middle of June until the end of August.
KVBA Books
by Lizzie, Jilleon, Keioun, Logan, and Ellie
Our school has KVBA books. KVBA stands for Kennebec Valley Book Awards. If you read all of the KVBA books you can meet the governor. The third, fourth, and fifth graders are the only classes reading the KVBA books. The different kinds of KVBA books are fiction, nonfiction, biographies and poetry. The books are on the list for one year. After that Mrs. Diamond or Mrs.Gogan, our librarians, puts it on the shelf. You have to read four books to go to the celebration at the end of the year . It is fun to read the KVBA books!
Our Playground
by Dakota, Dylan, Aric, Destiny, Jaelynn, and Kaylee
At our school we have a lot of fun things on our playground. Our school has 2 diamond baseball fields. Our class painted the whole state map. The state map is all the United States. We have a cool 4-square. On Castletown we have monkey bars, swings, balance beam, hopper jumper, slides, teeter totter. In the winter, we go sledding. Some kids like to play in the sandbox. We have the stepping stones that are blue and move up and down. Manchester students love our playground.
Spider Day
by Dustin, Treshawn, Jayde, Levi, Khiana, and Alysia
At our school we celebrate Halloween by studying a scary animal. We went to each grade with our book buddies. 3rd graders went with all the other grades like Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grade for Spider Day. Everyone went to other classrooms and did activities like making spiders, math games and gym. On Spider Day there are parent volunteers. Spider Day is a fun tradition for Halloween. We made spiders in fourth grade. We have a special snack at the end of the day!

In Manchester, on the first Saturday of October, there is an apple festival at Lakeside Orchard. This special day celebrates apple picking and the fall. There are lots of games, bounce houses and a crate race. You can win $100 dollars if you cross the crates in a Pond. There is a parade with cars, dancers, athletes and other people. Some of the games are the rat race, strong test, apple launch, and ring toss. You can also pick a lot of apples. There are hay rides, horse rides and tractor rides. We all have fun at the Apple Festival.
